Why Cancun and the Riviera Maya are popular vacation spots

The cold temperatures have me dreaming of a winter beach vacation.

Today we'll explore Cancun and the Riviera Maya area.

Cancun was originally developed in the 1970's and is known for it's

white sand beach and turquoise Caribbean Sea. Most of the resorts are

high-rise and there's an energetic vibe here.

As you can see from the picture above, there's good wave action and oh-so beautiful water.

In Cancun you'll have a mix of all-inclusive hotels, condos and regular hotels.

It's easy to get around to the many restaurants, clubs and shopping options.

The Riviera Maya is the coastline that stretches for about 75 miles south of Cancun. There are a few smaller towns but it's mostly rural with large beach front all-inclusive hotels and resort complexes. The small towns along the coast are fun to visit and where you can pick up local crafts and try out authentic Mexican food. Most of the resorts here are all-inclusive properties, are low to the ground and more sprawling. Many resorts have golf courses and you can also enjoy water sports right on your own beach. Whether you're staying in Cancun or the Riviera Maya you'll have access to the same tours and excursions which are plentiful. With so many resorts to choose from you're sure to find the perfect vacation spot for you.

Covid Update: This Tuesday was the first day that travelers returning from outside of the country had to have a negative Covid test to return home. Colleagues currently traveling mentioned how organized the resorts are and how easy the process is. At check in, they take your departure information and schedule your test right then. The test has to be within 3 days of your departure. You show up at your scheduled time, take the test and wait for your result via email. This is temporary and hopefully as more people get the vaccine, we'll see our cases decrease and be able to travel freely again.

The restrictions and travel policies are changing daily. We are keeping up with all of the details so you don't have to.
